Weaving with Spanish Threads: an Immigrant’s Tale
This is the story of a little-known group of immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century. Francisco Pérez, his family and compatriots reflect many immigrant groups who crossed the vast ocean to take up a new life in North America.
Ninety-eight years old when we interviewed him, Francisco Pérez was full of stories – of crossing the ocean before the Panama Canal was constructed, working as a farm laborer as a child, living through the Spanish flu epidemic…finally settling permanently in California. Fascinating.
